It applies to community services and health workers who play a proactive role in identifying and meeting their legal and ethical responsibilities.

Background – What is proactive care?

Proactive Care is ongoing patient-provider communication and active monitoring of conditions in order to prevent life-threatening emergencies. This is called communicating regularly with at-risk patients as well as each other about conditions, diagnosis, treatment protocols and preventive measures.

Proactive healthcare is personalized healthcare that encourages patients and care teams to prevent problems and allows them to have more control over their care. Patients may forget to take their medication or take their supplements, check their vitals, exercise, eat prescribed nutrients, and schedule follow up appointments if they aren't feeling sick.

Patients will respond more positively to informational or friendly reminders from their clinicians if they feel like trustworthy partners. These relationships can last a lifetime. Proper care, when done correctly, can enable whole person care. It involves tracking lifestyle changes and encouraging self-monitoring. Sensitive data sharing is encouraged as well as scheduling outpatient appointments and lab tests.

Trust-building communication promotes productive outpatient visits, and more fruitful wellness checks. This allows care teams to spot red flags and intervene when necessary to avoid serious issues. This personalized healthcare helps to retain patients for life. A shift in the industry to consistent, proactive care will allow clinicians to detect and treat risk factors and dysfunctions earlier and more efficiently to improve outcomes and save people's lives. Although proactive care may seem more costly than the reactive model, clinicians are finding that proactive care is cost-effective.

1. Reduce healthcare costs - This is possible with rapid, agile innovation supported by healthcare culture and policy changes. Proactive care is not reactive. It includes more than just a list of reports and a spreadsheet.
2. Remove barriers to care - This preventive model requires a 360-degree view of each patient, and regular monitoring. It tracks more than just vital signs and symptoms. It also tracks lifestyle and socio determinants of Health, which often make up a significant portion of a patient’s wellbeing. These hidden disparities were brought to the forefront by the pandemic. In an effort to fill those gaps, proactive care now integrates certain populations that lack access to clean water and food, as well as medication and transportation.
3. Improve your health outcomes - Active teams are problem-prevention specialists. They have a greater interaction with patients, building trust and instilling confidence in them to fill out their data sheets honestly and prevent medication-taking gaps. Aims and Objectives of this course

This course Work legally and ethically (based on CHCLEG001) will help you earn the skills necessary to identify, access and interpret sources of information about the legal requirements that apply to the work role. Our Work legally and ethically course is based on the unit of competency of CHCLEG001. Whilst this course is not nationally recognised, it follows the learning outcomes and elements associated with that unit. The course contains

What will you learn by completing the training course?

This course will include an understanding of awareness of the relevant legislation and your responsibilities in working legally and ethically. Learning outcomes include:

6. . Meet ethical responsibilities according to workplace policies and protocols, and scope of role
7. . Recognise potential ethical issues and dilemmas, and discuss with an appropriate person

10. . Recognise unethical conduct and report to an appropriate person 11. Recognise potential and actual conflicts of interest and take appropriate action

How Is the Training Delivered?

Work legally and ethically course is available online and completed in your own time. This Work legally and ethically training course is based on the learning outcomes outlined above. The course is typically designed to be completed in a minimum of four hours. However, the exact length of the course may depend on your ability and prior knowledge around the subject.  As the training is delivered online, you are able to complete it at your own pace.

What Accreditation Will You Get?

After completing the Work legally and ethically course, an assessment is conducted to determine if you have understood the information presented during the training course. If you pass this assessment, you receive a Certificate of Completion.

IMPORTANT NOTE whilst this course is based on the learning outcomes of the course provided, it is important to note that it is not a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment unless you opt for that option. Nationally Recognised training is only really required If you specifically require that unit of competency for a qualification or licence (typically this will require a practical component, further assessment and increased costs).

This course has been designed to comply with the best practices of national health and safety standards. Terminology has been chosen for clarity and ease of comprehension across jurisdictions. For example, ‘employer’ has been used to signify the broader term ‘PCBU’, while ‘WHS’ represents both work and occupational health and safety.

This training is not a substitute for professional legal advice. If you require further advice or information, please contact the health and safety regulator in your jurisdiction. A Certificate of Completion is issued on successful completion of the course and you are required to get an 80% pass mark to be deemed as understanding the content. It is recommended that training is conducted every 2 years to stay refreshed.
