Background - What is contractor compliance?

Contractor compliance refers to the process of ensuring the suppliers and contractors adhere to an organization's requirements. It is important that compliance criteria be thorough and complete. They should only be finalized after consulting with all relevant stakeholders and seeking advice from outside consultants. Contractors must agree to the criteria before they start work. It is all about reducing risk exposure for the business. Compliance with contractors will lower workplace safety risks, financial liabilities and legal risks for both the business as well as its officers.

An organized framework to prequalify contractors and monitor their activities is required.

6. Identify and investigate contractor non-compliance with WHS requirements and WHS KPIs
7. Discuss and agree with contractor required response in relation to identified non-compliance according to organisational policies and procedures
8. Document agreed response to non-compliance according to organisational policies and procedures
9. Make necessary adjustments to organisation-specific WHS requirements and guidance that relate to contractor services
10. Seek feedback on revised WHS requirements and guidance
11. Distribute updated contractor WHS requirements to required personnel according to organisational policies and procedures
