CPD Points and Learning Welcome to Contribute to the health, safety and wellbeing of students course. This course has been designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills required to implement work health and safety policies and procedures to support the health, safety and wellbeing of students in an educational environment. It also applies to education support workers who operate under the guidance and supervision of a teacher or other educational professional. They work mainly with students in classroom settings in primary and secondary schools, as defined by State/Territory legislation.

Background – What is student wellbeing?

For students to succeed in school, they must be happy. Positive psychological functioning is essential for student wellbeing. It allows students to flourish, learn and thrive. A student’s wellbeing is promoted through:

1. - Outstanding classroom teaching and learning
2. - Positive school environment and school culture
3. - Services that help students avoid problems (academic or social)
4. - Provision of services that help students solve problems as they arise - this is the role of the Wellbeing and Learning Diversity Leaders
5. - Positive learning outcomes are more likely to be achieved by children who are confident, happy and able establish meaningful relationships.

Aims and Objectives of this course

This course Contribute to the health, safety and wellbeing of students (based on CHCEDS059) will help you earn the skills necessary to provide guidance and support to students on the safe use and care of equipment and resources and to maintain classroom displays according to work safety regulations and organisational policies and procedures. Our Contribute to the health, safety and wellbeing of students course is based on the unit of competency of CHCEDS059. Whilst this course is not nationally recognised, it follows the learning outcomes and elements associated with that unit. The course contains

1. Narrated e-learning learning resources online
2. Online Assessment tasks
3. Ability to download your Certificate of Completion once assessment tasks are completed

What will you learn by completing the training course?

1. Support student protection programs as appropriate.
2. Identify situations that pose a threat to personal safety of self or others and follow organisational procedures to respond.
3. Recognise hazards in the workplace and report to appropriate personnel according to organisational policies and procedures.
4. Follow organisational policies and procedures for dealing with hazards within the scope of own job role.
5. Assist in maintaining the classroom in a clean and tidycondition.
6. Identify situations where students require assistance with personal care or hygiene and respond according to organisational polcies and procedures.
7. Attend to soiled student clothing and areas according to organisational policies and procedures.
8. Contribute to planning for emergency and potential emergency situations within the school.
9. Recognise emergency and potential emergency situations promptly and take required actions within the scope of own job role.
10. Follow organisational emergency procedures when emergencies occur.
11. Seek assistance promptly from colleagues and/or other authorities where appropriate.
12. Report details of emergency situations according to organisational policies and procedures and accurately complete accident and incident report forms.

How Is the Training Delivered?

Contribute to the health, safety and wellbeing of students course is available online and
completed in your own time. This Contribute to the health, safety and wellbeing of students training course is based on the learning outcomes outlined above.
The course is typically designed to be completed in a minimum of four hours.
However, the exact length of the course may depend on your ability and prior
knowledge around the subject.  As the training is delivered online, you are able to complete it at your own pace.

What Accreditation Will You Get?

After completing the Contribute to the health, safety and wellbeing of students course, an assessment is conducted to determine if you have understood the information
presented during the training course. If you pass this assessment, you receive a
Certificate of Completion.

IMPORTANT NOTE whilst this course is based on the learning outcomes of the course provided, it is important to note that it is not a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment unless you opt for that option. Nationally Recognised training is only really required If you specifically require that unit of competency for a qualification or licence (typically this will require a practical component, further assessment and increased costs)..
