Who Needs to Complete Asbestos Removal Courses Brisbane?

You must complete the non-friable removal course for the removal of 10 square meters or more of non-friable asbestos. Safe Work Australia also recommends completing this training when removing less than 10 square meters.

The non-friable asbestos removal course is required before completing the friable asbestos removal course. The friable asbestos removal training qualifies you to remove any amount of friable asbestos.

Asbestos removal courses are necessary for anyone whose job involves the removal of friable or non-friable asbestos. These courses are most commonly a requirement for workers in the construction industry. However, workers in many different sectors may encounter asbestos products.

After successful completion of one of our courses, you receive a statement of attainment. Your statement provides proof of your asbestos removal certificate. It allows you to participate in asbestos removal plans for a PCBU with the proper asbestos removal license.

Depending on the work environment and your position, you may need to complete one or more of the following training courses:

• Class A – Removal of friable asbestos
• Class B – Removal of non-friable asbestos
• Supervise asbestos removal
• Conduct an assessment for asbestos removal

Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) may issue an asbestos removal license to a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU). Workers who carry out asbestos removal work for asbestos removal license holders must meet certain training requirements, such as the completion of Class A and/or Class B asbestos removal training courses.

The Class B course is needed for the removal of non-friable asbestos products. This includes solid, rigid material that does not easily flake or break. The Class A course is needed for the removal of friable asbestos, such as pipe lagging, fire retardant material, boiler insulation, and sprayed insulation. 

Asbestos cement sheeting may be friable or non-friable. It often becomes friable when crushed or exposed to certain chemicals. 

A licensed asbestos removals may also require someone to supervise the asbestos removal process. Supervisors must complete the “Supervise Asbestos Removal” course. Licensed asbestos assessors must complete the “Conduct Asbestos Assessment” course. 

How Long Does Asbestos Removal Training Last?

The Class A and Class B asbestos removal courses cover all removal processes. The duration of the training sessions often depends on the size of the class. However, the Class B course typically requires a full day of training at our training facility. Our Class A course requires two days of training.

How Much Does Brisbane Asbestos Removal Training Cost?

The average cost of an asbestos removal course in Brisbane is several hundred dollars for the Class B course. The Class A course is about twice the price of the non-friable asbestos removal course, as it includes more extensive training.
