Who Needs to Complete Asbestos Removal Courses Brisbane?
Exposure to asbestos can increase the risk of various health issues, including asbestosis and lung cancer. About 1,500 to 2,500 Australians die from asbestos-related diseases each year. Understanding safe work procedures, such as wearing personal protective equipment and following disposal requirements helps protect workers.
According to WHS regulations, asbestos removal training is required for the removal of most types of asbestos products. Asbestos-containing material is divided into two categories – friable and non-friable asbestos. Each type of asbestos requires the completion of a different training course.
You must complete the non-friable removal course for the removal of 10 square meters or more of non-friable asbestos. Safe Work Australia also recommends completing this training when removing less than 10 square meters.
The non-friable asbestos removal course is required before completing the friable asbestos removal course. The friable asbestos removal training qualifies you to remove any amount of friable asbestos.
Asbestos removal courses are necessary for anyone whose job involves the removal of friable or non-friable asbestos. These courses are most commonly a requirement for workers in the construction industry. However, workers in many different sectors may encounter asbestos products.
For example, demolition workers, home renovators, utility workers, and tradespeople may need to remove asbestos-containing materials as part of their job duties.
