Welcome to the Minimising Risk Using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Induction Training Course. This course has been designed to remind you about your PPE responsibilities and some commonly used items of PPE. 

This course will provide you with an understanding of:

• what personal protective equipment (PPE) is
• when PPE is suitable for use
• who is responsible for providing and maintaining PPE
• your responsibilities regarding PPE, and
• common PPE used in the industrial environment.

This course has been reviewed by a recognised subject matter expert.

It has been designed to comply with best practice national health and safety standards. Terminology has been chosen for clarity and ease of comprehension across jurisdictions. For example, ‘employer’ has been used to signify the broader term ‘PCBU’, while ‘WHS’ represents both work and occupational health and safety.

What is PPE? 

Personal protective equipment is considered to be any equipment used or worn by an individual person to minimise the risk to their health and safety.

Common PPE may include:

• high-visibility jackets
• eye protection
• head protection, and
• protective footwear.

A Certificate of Completion is issued on successful completion of the course and you are required to get an 80% pass mark to be deemed as understanding the content. It is recommended that training is conducted every 2 years to stay refreshed.
